Are you suffering from Shiny Object Syndrome?

It would be difficult not to, right?

Every conference we go to & article we read is about the whys and ways we should incorporate innovation into our industry and our businesses. And they're not wrong, the Financial Services industry as a whole is woefully behind other industries when it comes to the way we connect with the public. Basically, we all want to ensure we remain relevant.

In our desperation to remain relevant in the public's eyes, we latch on to the most up to date thing we can see, which is innovation and technology. We dive in to automating our process & our service offering, until we have spent a whole lot of time trying to plug pieces of technology into our business, to solve problems we never really had, with technology we most likely never needed. This is Shiny Object Syndrome - the relentless search for small solutions (tech) to a big problem (relevance) and unfortunately it almost never ends well.

If we want to attack the problem of relevance, we don't need to head outside for new ideas, we need to start inside our businesses for the real & current challenges our teams are facing and resolve them first. We need to renovate, before we can automate.

What to expect from doing the course...

This course therefore provides you with a step by step guide to to develop your practices in a way that ensures you can remain relevant while also forging your own path forward. The first place we'll attack is bandwidth. There is no point coming up with ideas to improve how we do things if we simply don't have the time to implement them, right? So you will learn a number of techniques that will make small adjustments to the way we work on a day to day basis, in an effort to find that elusive extra time we can then apply to automating some stuff.

Next we will lay the foundations in your business to ensure any efforts you make to change and grow how you do things actually stick. Some of this is about getting a better understanding of business process design, however we will also be covering the concept of a Tech Ecosystem and how we build this out to become one of the key assets in our business.

Now that we've done the groundwork, we can start to learn ways to identify our first renovation projects, and manage them well to ensure we see them right through to successful completion. This includes where to go to find the right tech solution for the particular problem you are looking to solve, and insider tips on getting your selected app or widget approved by higher ups like dealer groups and practice principals. We also cover how to make the process of renovation a part of the business' DNA so that we can proactively improve how we do things rather than simply reacting to perceived threats as they come up.

It wouldn't be an automation & innovation program if we didn't talk about some apps so we also spend a good amount of time stepping through the different categories of apps we have at our disposal and even profile a handful of the better performers in each category. (Please note: the one type of tech we won't be covering is the financial advice system, we will talk about how we work with and around whatever your chosen system is, however this course is designed to give you insight into what ELSE it available out there, beyond your current experience).

Peita D has also thrown in a few bonus modules that cover topics that come up frequently during her business coaching sessions. You can see more of the detailed lectures within the modules in the curriculum below.
